Birthday floral crown.  The pink Rose is the star of this flower arrangement.  Breathless, Song of India, Ti leaves, and Basil leaves are the perfect add-ons. Rose: symbol of love and beauty.

The hala plant (Pandanus). Also called Screw pine. With big long leaves, this green plant is useful in Pacific island cultures. The leaves ( lauhala) are used for weaving many things used in every day life such headbands, baskets, hats, mats.  This can be used to make the headband featured in the Coconut leaf headband tutorial. Simply cut the leaf lengthwise to make the strips.  Follow the instructions.  After much practice, you'll be amazed at how fast you can make them.
 Cute White and Purple  Globe flowers  are a nice addition to cover garden grounds. They are round and hairy-looking flowers. This bushy annual plant with stiff stems and oblong leaves enjoys full sun.  Its vivid purple color is a nice addition to flower arrangements.

Purple Prince Joyweed plant

Here's a plant that is easy to grow and propagates quickly:  Purple Prince Joyweed. A clipping dipped in a jar of water or moist soil will soon show roots in less than a week. After being planted in the soil and watered once a day, the Purple Prince Joyweed quickly propagates within weeks, making it a great ground cover.  The Purple Prince Joyweed likes sunlight.  Watering once a day in the early stages is recommended.      

Birthday haku (flower crown)

 Floral colors will definitely brighten one's birthday.  Selected and picked flowers are tastefully arranged on a handmade headband to make a vibrant accessory to wear to celebrate a birthday.     Haku made with Song of India, fern, Croton, and purple Bougainvillea.  

Tropical haku

To make a haku or floral crown, flowers and leaves of your choice are arranged on a handmade headband.  During the winter, plumeria trees are bare.  But they are slowly coming back. I managed to pick a few plumerias to add to the haku .  They are not only pretty flowers.  Their scent is sweet and they are perfectly symmetrical in their shape and color distribution.  They vary in shape, texture, shade, and perfume.  They grow in warm places.  In Hawai'i and other areas of Polynesia, plumerias are strung together to make lei or garlands.  After I pick the flowers, I group them on the table.  I wonder if I have enough variety.  Then I get started and after I have woven 4 different flowers together, I am always amazed at how uplifting floral colors are.  They are vivid.  Right away, they boost my mood and I can't wait for it to be finished and wear it. Think pink with Money tree leaves.

The Money tree  adds a little sweetness to the " haku"  with its pink-tinted leaves. About the Money tree.   Also called Dracaena. Most species are native to Africa. Grows best in bright, indirect sunlight, but tolerates low light. Indoor and outdoor plant. Resilient plant.  Low maintenance.  Does not need much watering.  Wait for soil to be dry to water again. Propagates easily by stem cuttings. If it grows too tall, cut where desired and a new shoot will grow from there. Said to bring good luck and prosperity.
