Tropical haku

To make a haku or floral crown, flowers and leaves of your choice are arranged on a handmade headband.  During the winter, plumeria trees are bare.  But they are slowly coming back. I managed to pick a few plumerias to add to the haku.  They are not only pretty flowers.  Their scent is sweet and they are perfectly symmetrical in their shape and color distribution.  They vary in shape, texture, shade, and perfume.  They grow in warm places.  In Hawai'i and other areas of Polynesia, plumerias are strung together to make lei or garlands.

After I pick the flowers, I group them on the table.  I wonder if I have enough variety.  Then I get started and after I have woven 4 different flowers together, I am always amazed at how uplifting floral colors are.  They are vivid.  Right away, they boost my mood and I can't wait for it to be finished and wear it.
Thank you, Mother Nature, for another beautiful haku!  What an awesome sight: flowers and leaves in perfect harmony.
