With big long leaves, this green plant is useful in Pacific island cultures.

The leaves (lauhala) are used for weaving many things used in every day life such headbands, baskets, hats, mats.

 This can be used to make the headband featured in the Coconut leaf headband tutorial. Simply cut the leaf lengthwise to make the strips.  Follow the instructions.  After much practice, you'll be amazed at how fast you can make them.
